Analia Rubie, Director


Analia has been a part of the MC College team since February 2011. She brings over 8 years of experience to her position as Director of the Edmonton Campus. Previous to MC College, Analia was the manager of a fast paced high profile salon and spa for 5 years. She has extensive sales experience as the Sales Representative for lines such as Schwarzkopf, TIGI, Redken, and Zoya. Analia is on top of current fashion trends and also has managerial experience with Suzy Shier. She is a fan of the stage and is actively involved in theatre productions. Analia is passionate about her community and has the MC College Edmonton campus involved in numerous charitable events in and around Edmonton.



Cassandra Anderson, Administrator


Cassandra has been part of the MC College team since July of 2012. She brings 15 years of Fashion Retail Experience with her and has managed employees for companies such as Suzy Shier, Jacob, Fairweather and Claire’s accessories. Cassandra has a real flare for customer relations and a passion for the beauty industry she hopes to pass her knowledge and enthusiasm onto future professionals so they may expand their own customer service skills.



Jenny Acton, Administrative Assistant


Jenny has over 10 years of experience in the retail industry; working at Reitman’s and Fairweather in various management positions. From training staff to sales and merchandising, she brings her attention to detail and communication skills to the team. Jenny is “excited to be part of a fun, upbeat and passionate industry” and looks forward to being part of the students’ progress. 



Kayla Dame, Registration Coordinator


Kayla has been a part of the MC College team since April 2010; she started with the college as a Salon Coordinator and is currently a Registration Coordinator. In July of 2009, she graduated from the Hair Program at the Del Rio Academy in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Kayla has been a part of the Beauty Industry for over 5 years, and has previous customer service skills in sales and retail.



Sheldon Sawchyn, Salon Manager


If you could makeover anyone, who would it be: Johnny Depp or Charlize Theron.
Must have hair product: wax stick.
What’s on your bucket list? Get a tattoo sleeve and learn how to snowboard. 
 
Sheldon started his career over 20 years ago with a desire to help people look good and feel good  through hairstyling. He has taken many advanced cutting and colouring classes taught by industry leaders such as: Anthony Mascolo and the TIGI Education team, Artine Ghazarian (TIGI),  Jeff Louis (Artego), Wayne Grund (Surface), Anthony Edge (Label M) and Martin Parsons. His commitment to the industry helped him win the National Wella Young Protégé Competition and first place in the men’s cut/style category at the Allied Beauty Association. Throughout his career, he has gained experience working as a stylist, manager and educator at some of Edmonton’s finest salons.


Kelly Van Brederode, Hairstyling Instructor


With a passion for hairstyling, Kelly pursued a career in hairstyling and graduated from MC College in 2005. After graduating, Kelly started her hairstyling career at Dolce Soleil and moved on to Kaya Loma.  Seven years later, she began working at Sir 101 which specializes in hair restoration for individuals who have experienced hair loss. With the experience of operating her private salon and working other salons/spas, Kelly has knowledge in various product lines including Aveda, Schwarzkopf, and Lanza. Realizing her desire to give back to the industry, Kelly finds herself at MC College as an instructor. She hopes that her students are excited about the hair industry and hopes to inspire them to help others in need such as cancer patients. 



Lyndsy Campbell, Hairstyling Instructor


“I am most excited about sharing my drive and passion of the hair industry with all my students so that they can become the next generation of successful hair professionals.”
 
As a graduate from MC College’s Hairstyling program in 2001 and a Journeyman Certified Hairstylist, Lyndsy always knew she would have a career in the Beauty Industry. “Having had my hair done as a teenager at MC College, I realized the Hair Industry was where I belonged and I knew I wanted to help people feel their best!” Prior to enrolling in the hair program, she started at MC College as a Salon Coordinator. From Student to Graduate, Lyndsy has come full circle and is now the Hairstyling Instructor. Throughout her career, she has worked as a colourist at a high end salon in Edmonton, Alberta and at Creative Cuts in Devon, Alberta. Since 2008, she has been the Master Stylist and Owner of the Hair Suite.  With over 16 years of experience, she has attended advanced cutting and colouring classes with Wella, Matrix and Schwarzkopf to name a few. 
 


Kristy Enright, Hairstyling Instructor


“I love the Beauty Industry because...there’s nothing better than knowing that you are making people feel good about themselves in your career”. 
 
As a Red Seal and Journeyman certified Hairstylist, Kristy has over 15 years of experience in the Industry. She has worked at Razors Edge and Ultra Cuts in Lethbridge, Alberta.  Kristy is constantly staying on top of the latest cutting, styling and colouring techniques. She recently attended an advanced colour correction workshop through Goldwell. She is an avid supporter of various fundraisers for cancer research. 
 


Lyle Halvorson, Hairstyling Instructor


Lyle has been a part of the MC College team for over 10 years. He brings over 25 years of salon experience to his position as a Hairstyling Instructor. Lyle taught the Government of Alberta Apprenticeship Program for 5 years at MC College. During those years, Alberta's top Hairstyling Apprentice came from Lyle's class three times. Lyle has been to numerous product knowledge seminars, including Aveda, TIGI, Artego, L'Oreal and Swartzkopf. He has completed technical training with Kenny Gibson, Oscar Bond and Gina Khan. Lyle has also participated in Mindful Teaching Seminars from Pivot Point International and Ambassador Training with Sebastian International.



Cynthia Perrie, Hairstyling Instructor


“I take great pride and responsibility in empowering students...I love to see them grow into a secure, confident stylist. As an instructor, I will always be part of their hairstyling history.”
 
From Journeyman Certified Hairstylist to Educator and Business Owner, Cynthia has over 30 years of experience in the Beauty Industry. She has worked at Toppy’s Hair Design (Burnaby, BC) and Magic Cuts (Vancouver, BC), and has owned Diva Hair Design (Maple Ridge, BC). Since 1990, Cynthia has been a co-Owner, Director and Hairstyling Instructor at a cosmetology school in BC. “The beauty industry chose me. When I graduated High School...I soon realized I needed a trade. So I went to hair school and never looked back...loved the excitement and it was a way to stay connected to people” Cynthia has taken advanced cutting and colouring classes through Artego, Redken, Rush, Vero Colour and Schwarzkopf. Throughout her career, she has travelled to Pivot Point Academy in Chicago and Seattle for training in mindful teaching and design forum. 
 


Medina Lunger, Hairstyling Instructor


“I wanted to work in the Beauty Industry because I love to see the change in people from the time they walk in the door to the time they walk out….Helping clients discover themselves and maintaining it…makes me incredibly happy.” 
 
Medina started her career in Hairstyling after taking Cosmetology in High School. Her passion for the industry, particularly barbering, was ignited when she started her apprenticeship at her Aunt’s salon. “I am most excited about my new position as a teacher because I can see the future professionals develop from the beginning stages…I want the challenge as a teacher to express that foundations are crucial, clean sections are important but do not need to strangle the creative artist inside.”
 


Myle Tran, Hairstyling Instructor


Myle has been with the MC College team since 1997 and has over 20 years of experience in the Beauty Industry. She has achieved Level 4 of the Instructor Training Program, has completed the U of A Extension "Train the Trainer" Program and finished 5 levels of the Mindful Teaching program from Pivot Point International. She has participated in numerous advanced cutting, coloring and color correcting classes with Schwarzkopf and Artego Canada. Myle is certified in Hair Extensions, Dreadlocks and Make-Up Artistry.



Larissa Tychkowsky, Hairstyling Instructor

Larissa is a graduate of MC College’s Hairstyling program. Upon graduation, she quickly learned the power of education. Larissa has taken advanced classes in balayage (Dawn Bradley Hair & Larissa Love Salon), hair extensions (International Luxury Hair & Babe Hair Extensions) and social media for business. Throughout her career, she has worked at Pure Beauty Salon and Allure Salon.
 


Zsuzsana Varga, Hairstyling Instructor


Zsuzsana has over 25 years of experience in the salon and spa industry. She has worked at salons in Edmonton, Vancouver and Winnipeg, and has competed in several hair competitions. As the Salon Manager, she feels her position will have a positive effect on students’ experience at MC College because she is able to use her knowledge to help perfect students’ technical skills.



Cathy Whitford, Hairstyling Instructor


Cathy is a graduate of MC College’s Hairstyling and Nail Technician program. She has 10 years of salon experience as a Hairstylist and 2 years as a freelance Nail Tech. Throughout her career, she has taken advanced cutting, up-do and color corrective courses. Cathy was inspired to start a career in the beauty industry after completing the cosmetology program in High School. Her passion for the industry and her need to help future professionals motivated her to become an Instructor. Cathy looks forward to using her experience to help Hairstyling students develop their technical skills.



Angela Wright, Hairstyling Instructor


“The beauty industry is forever changing. Making people feel and look beautiful will always be in my blood.”
 
Angela’s passion for the industry started in her teenage years when she started working as an assistant at Hair Expressions Salon in Edmonton and taking Cosmetology classes in High School.  “It was then and there that I knew it was my calling to become a Hairstylist” she says. Since receiving her Hairstyling diploma, Angela has attended several advanced classes in hair extensions, cutting and colouring. With over 30 years of experience as a Hairstylist, she says she is “thrilled to pass on my knowledge to these passionate new stylists. When I see their ‘aha’ moment it melts my heart to know that I had that same feeling 30 years ago”. 
 


Francesca Gray, Esthetics Instructor


“Perseverance fuels the learning experience and patience beautifies it”

Francesca is a graduate from MC College’s Esthetics program. With over 12 years of experience in the industry, she has taken advanced education in nail technician (NSI Nails), eyelash extensions (Lash Forever Canada) and chemical peels (Serene). Francesca has worked at Salon Beyond and Body bar, and at YNV Spa & Tanning. 
 


Honour O’Donovan, Esthetics Instructor


Honour has always had an interest in the health and beauty industry. Her passion began with makeup. She started her career at The European Institute of Esthetics. Upon graduating she had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of skin care lines such as Dermalogica, Image, Comfort Zone, Dermed, BioElements, Jane Iredale and now Bernard Cassiere. She received additional training within the spa involving chemical peels and advanced Microdermabrasion techniques. She is proud to be apart of the MC College family and loves being an Educator.



Alisha Schick, Fashion Instructor


A graduate from the MC College Fashion program in 2001, Alisha has remained an active and influential component to the growth of the fashion industry in Edmonton. Not only has Alisha been running her private label out of a studio with Bamboo Ballroom for the past several years, Her involvement as an instructor for the MC College Fashion Department keeps her inspired and current. Her teaching experiences also allow her to mentor and build community with students and peers who share her passion.  Some of her past students include Sid Neigum, who was a recipient of the Toronto Fashion Incubator New Labels award, and Nicole Campre, a recent finalist in the Mercedes Benz start up competition. Some of Alisha’s other experiences have included fashion illustration for Manulife Place as well as Blue Skys Sportswear, styling for local publications such as Parlour, and Georgie magazine, and retail buying and merchandising for local independent boutiques. You can also find Alisha helping out backstage coordinating shows and events as well as being a Featured Designer with WCFW.



Reem Alkhoury-Sicoe, Salon & Spa Coordinator


Reem has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from the University of Damascus in Syria. She is also a certified Esthetician with over 5 years of experience in the beauty industry. She has worked at Clara’s Beauty Boutique and Cleopatra Hair Design and Spa in Charlottetown, PEI.  As a Salon and Spa Coordinator, the most rewarding part of her job is helping students get closer to achieving their dream career by assisting them with their day to day tasks in the salon and spa.



Kristy Giles, Salon & Spa Coordinator


Kristy is a graduate from MC College’s Hairstyling program. Prior to joining the MC team, she worked at Spasation, Chrome Salon and the Beauty Lounge. In addition, she has worked as a Beauty Advisor at Shoppers Drug Mart, where she gained extensive knowledge in retail, customer service and sales. “I really enjoyed my time at MC College because the staff made it so great...I am so excited to be part of students’ careers” 



Bryce Munro, Salon & Spa Coordinator


Bryce graduated from MC College as an Esthetician in 2006. Since then, she has worked at spas in the Edmonton area including her own spa, BAesthetics. Throughout her career, Bryce has expanded her knowledge by taking complementary courses such Podology, Advanced Nails, Make-Up Artistry and Advanced Facials. She has worked with a variety of product lines including DerMed, Vivescence, LCN, Genwol and OPI just to name a few. When she’s not working, she loves to experiment with nail art and creating special occasion make-up looks. Bryce intends on passing on her enthusiasm for the esthetics industry and the need for excellent customer service to her students.



Amy Nelson, Salon & Spa Coordinator

Amy is a 2015 graduate from MC College’s Hairstyling program. She started her career in the industry at Bliss Hair Design where she specialized in balayage and shadow roots.
