Janet Davey, Director

Janet is a Red Seal certified Hairstylist with 25 years of experience in the salon and spa industry. She has completed advanced technical training with Tressa, Tigi, Joico and Schwarzkopf. In 2000, she discovered her passion for inspiring future professionals as a Hairstyling Instructor at MC College. In 2003, Janet opened Bangs and Co Hair Studio, where she gained experience in operations, marketing and management. She has made a full circle and returned to MC College as a Director. Janet is excited to help future industry talent by sharing her experiences in the salon and spa industry. 

Pam Weatherall, Administrator

Pam brings with her 27 years of experience in the salon industry with 10 years experience as a Hairstyling Instructor.  Prior to MC College, she worked at Lamane Place, Creative Cuts and Blend Hair Studio. She was inspired to start a career in the salon industry after taking cosmetology courses in High School. Pam has come full circle and now enjoys sharing her knowledge and inspiring future industry professionals. From Hairstyling Instructor to Administrator, Pam looks forward to helping students achieve their dream career in the beauty industry.

Caitlyn Thoreson, Enrolment Coordinator

“I didn’t chose the beauty industry, it chose me....I’m so glad to be part of an industry that helps people love themselves”
Caitlyn is no stranger to the creative industry. Before joining the MC team, she worked as a technician and designer at Ignition Theatre. From 2008 to 2012, she was an Assistant Manager at Green Apple Salon where she was awarded Receptionist of the Year. Whether it’s helping students build their clientele or helping them with retailing and customer service, Caitlyn looks forward to helping students achieve their dream career. 

Michelle Carvers, Hairstyling Instructor

“We are constantly learning to be better stylists. Stay humble and search to keep learning and importing.

Michelle is a graduate from MC College’s Hairstyling program with nearly 10 years of experience in the industry. Michelle is passionate about her career and the industry because of the “versatility it offers. The industry gives [her] a chance to reinvent [herself] and others”. Throughout her career, she has taken advanced education in straight shaves and Brazilian hair straightening. From stylist to entrepreneur and educator, Michelle co-owned ‘Victory Dolls Hair Parlour’ and worked as a stylist at Tommy Gun’s Barbershop.


Cecilia Hawiuk, Hairstyling instructor

“I love that the Beauty Industry is all about building one another up. It does not discriminate, it does not look down upon difference but instead embraces and celebrates it.”

Growing up, Cecilia had family in the Hairstyling Industry which inspired her to start her career as a Stylist. “I grew up watching my Grandma run a beauty school…I knew at a young age that I was meant to be part of the Beauty Industry”. She brings with her nearly 10 years of experience as a Journeyman Certified Hairstylist. Throughout her career, she has taken advanced classes in barbering, hot shaves and beard design. Before joining the MC team, she worked at Organic Oasis Spa and Salon, Tommy Guns Barber and Scissor Wizard.

Tracey Holmes, Hairstyling Instructor

Tracey discovered her love for Hairstyling at a young age. Since graduating from MC College over 25 years ago, she has worked in various salons in the Edmonton area. When she is not styling hair, Tracey can be found crafting or volunteering with the Girl Guides as a Unit Leader. She hopes to help her students achieve a high level of professionalism while enjoying the creative aspect of hair design.

Sabrina McMurray, Hairstyling Instructor

Sabrina is a 2010 graduate from MC College’s hairstyling program. As a Journeyman certified hairstylist, she has worked at Red Room Salon and Merle Norman Cosmetics. Sabrina is certified in fusion hair extensions, hair removal, artificial nails and sugaring. 

Samantha Albers, Esthetics Instructor

Beauty must have product: eyebrow pencil and wax

Favorite item in your wardrobe: black jeans and black leggings

Samantha is a graduate from MC College’s Esthetics program. She has elevated her career by taking advanced classes in facial massage techniques, chemical peels, sugaring and nail art to name a few. Before joining the MC team, she worked at Reflections Day Spa.

Tracey Bishop, Salon & Spa Coordinator

What’s on your bucket list: Travel to Ireland and learn how to apply gory theatre makeup.
Tracey is a Journeyman Stylist with over 22 years of experience. Before joining the MC team, she worked at Bangs & Co as a stylist and at Huntinghills High School as a Cosmetology teaching assist. Throughout her career, she has taken master workshops in hair extension and cutting though ISO and Hot Heads.
